Design

In terms of design. There's not a lot of changes between the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Fold 3, so you really can't tell the difference between the two right off the bat. Perhaps even quite similar to the Z Fold 2 as well. Nevertheless, Samsung made it lighter by 17gm, down from 154gm and a bit thinner at 15.8 mm when folded. The overall dimensions have been shaved off a bit,

Display

Display sizes remain the same that's the 6.2 inch HD plus AMOLED on the outer display with 120Hz refresh rate and 7.6 inch QXGA plus AMOLED main or inner display with the same 120Hz refresh rate, pretty much the same as the Z Fold 3.

However, the main difference here is the aspect ratio due to the fact that they made the main display 3mm wider and the outer display 2.3mm wider. So in a way they made the phone a bit shorter and wider, making sure they retain the display sizes but with a different screen aspect ratio.

Protection

The outer screen is protected with Gorilla Glass Victor Plus at the front and also at the back with an armor aluminum body. While the main screen still uses Infinity Flex display screen brightness has also been improved from 900m to 1000x, so you'll get better screen visibility when using it in the outdoors.

The Galaxy Z Fold for also retains the same IPX8 rating for dust and water resistance of up to 1.5 meters and in 30 minutes

Performance

powering the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the new Snapdragon 8plus Gen1 chipset with 12GB of Ram and a standard storage capacity of 256GB or 512GB.There is an online only exclusive variant of 1TB storage which you can get via Samsung.com. Expect the device to be blazing fast with this configuration and from the short time we've been using it while running multiple apps and playing games such as Genshin Impact, the phone is battery smooth and everything you'd expect it to be.

Interface

The Galaxy Z Fold  4 runs on Android 12 with one UI four one that introduced some refinements in the interface, including a new taskbar floating from the bottom of the screen.

S Pen

There is style support for the s pen, but still no built in slot for it on the device, so you'll have to settle with this special S Pen case for now.

Battery

Battery capacity remains to be the same at 4400mAh, but it's got a 25 watt fast charging capability, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.

Connectivity

When it comes to connectivity, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 supports 5G, 4 G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, dual Nano SIM plus and ESM support. There's no microSD card expansion slot here.

Still, the fingerprint sensor is side mounted along with the power button.

Camera

There's some significant upgrades done on the camera setup of the Galaxy Z Fold 4, starting with a 50MP main wide lens, another 12MP ultra wide and a 10MP space zoom lens with 3x optical zoom and 3D X space zoom that's just on the rear camera. There's also the 10MP front camera in the exterior and another 4MP under display camera inside the fold. You won't really notice that under display camera until you fired up in the SLP.

Color

When the phone is unfolded, new colors are available for the default for this time. That's phantom black, gray, green and beads, which is a Samsung.com exclusive.

Durability

One of the main concerns with the previous foldable phone from Samsung is its durability and some of the improvements done with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has somewhat addressed that. The new hinge design has been engineered to last longer, which guarantees over 200,000 repetitive folds as tested in the laboratory, and they even showed a demo of how it's done in our product tours.
